Let's be honest: anyone can throw a dinner party. The hard part - the part nobody wants to do because it doesn't scale and doesn't fit in an app - is deciding, on purpose, who sits where. So that's what we do. Every person at our table has actually talked to us first.

 

Not filled out a form that auto-approved itself, not paid their way past a velvet rope. A real conversation, where we tried to find out who you are when you're not performing yourself for LinkedIn, a dating app, or your third cousin's engagement party. It takes longer. We don't care. It's the only step in this whole process that actually matters.

Because here's our theory, and we're sticking to it: a deliberate number of strangers chosen on purpose will always beat a hundred strangers chosen by an algorithm. Curation isn't us being precious about who gets in - it's us doing the unglamorous, slightly obsessive work of noticing that you and someone three neighborhoods away would talk for hours, and then making sure you're both holding a glass of wine at the same table.

 

So when we ask a few nosy questions before you show up, take it as a compliment. It means we're taking your evening as seriously as you are.
